2 visitors arrested after smuggling attempt at prison

CALIPATRIA, Calif. – Two men face three to five years prison after officers found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in their car at a state prison.

Officers say Ruben Arturo Jaquez, 28, and Moises Gonzales Jr., 26, were visiting an inmate at Calipatria State Prison when an officer noticed a strong smell of pot coming from the car they were in.

The men admitted to having drug in the car.

Officers say they did not find any drugs on the men’s bodies, however, found 61.2 grams of weed and two smoking pipes in the trunk of the car.

Jaquez and Gonzales, both from Lake Elsinore, California, were booked into Imperial County Jail and face felony charges.
