SALTON CITY, Calif. – A suspected smuggler was arrested after Border Patrol agents found 25 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in the car he was in.
Agents say the 21-year-old drove up to the Highway 86 checkpoint in a 2010 Nissan Altima when a canine officer alerted the car.
22 packages of meth with a value of about $250,000 were found stuffed inside the car’s frame.
The man, a U.S. citizen, was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
The incident happened early Saturday morning.
