Republican Congressman Paul Gosar doesn’t believe undocumented students should be able to get in-state tuition so he is working to ensure this doesn’t happen anymore.
In May, the Arizona Board of Regents voted to grant undocumented students, also known as DREAMers, in-state tuition at the three public universities.
American Immigration Council Communication Director Wendy Feliz said,
“Not granting them in-state tuition is really short sighted because you have already done their K-12 education realize and maximize their benefits back to the state, the higher they are educated the better. They’re not asking for anything other than what any other who graduates from the state gets an opportunity to go to college at in-state tuition rates.”
Feliz says they would have to pay international rates, which are two to three more in state, which would prohibit them from going to college, which not good for them and is not good for the state.
