SAN LUIS, Ariz.- September 15th marks the first day of National Hispanic Heritage month which lasts until October 15. The observation and recognition is for all people that decent from Caribbean, Spain, Central and South America. The observation of celebrating Hispanic culture in America started in 1968 under President Lyndon Johnson’s administration.
The whole month of September especially 15-18 holds special importance to the Hispanic culture because it is also independence day for many Latin American countries such as: El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Chile and Mexico. Aside from independence it also marks discovery on October 12 marks Columbus Day or Día de la Raza.
