YUMA, Ariz. – After the Yuma Veterans Day Parade on Wednesday, the American Legion Post 19 held their 11th hour ceremony. The event marked the end of World War 1 which ended on November 11th, 1918. Residents took a moment of silence to remember and honor veterans of WW1.
The American Legion says that even though there are no more WW1 vets alive it is vital to remember and respect the sacrifices they made to protect our country’s freedom and the freedom of the world. The legion led residents in prayer and recited poems expressing the conflicts WW1 vets faced. Several veterans said this was an emotional ceremony for them and that the WW1 veterans will never be forgotten.
