Arizona Highway work on hold for holiday weekend

Normally there is construction on weekends across Arizona highways, but this weekend that will stop.

ADOT says the department will make no closures – at least through late Sunday night across the whole state.

However, existing lane closures for bridge work will be happening about 20 miles east of Payson on state route 260. Also on interstate 40 near Ash Fork will remain in place.

Officials are urging people to make sure their vehicles are in good condition and will be able to travel the distance.

This year, the department is hoping everyone will be safe on the roads – that’s because that year 9 people were killed in 7 crashes across the state.

There will be no road closures, but that doesn’t mean accidents or other road problems wont happen, so that’s definitely something to keep in mind when hitting the road.
