Police arrest suspected Subway armed robber

YUMA, Ariz. –  A man was caught on camera threatening a cashier with a supposed weapon at a Yuma Subway restaurant late Thursday night.

Feb. 12, 2016 2:19 p.m.

Police have arrested 29-year-old Ruben Chavez Jr. in connection to the armed robbery at a Subway restaurant on Avenue B.

Chavez was booked into the Yuma County Detention Center on one charge of armed robbery.

Feb. 11, 2016 4:31 p.m.

Yuma police say the unidentified man entered the subway on South Avenue B at 10:10 p.m he threatened an employee and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register.

The suspect fled the scene in a white 4-door sedan southbound on Avenue B. There were no injuries reported.

As seen in the surveillance video the suspect is described as a hispanic male wearing a dark colored white and horizontal striped shirt, gloves, dark sweat pants, light colored shoes, a red brimmed ball cap with a hood on top and a shirt covering his face.
