Banned book week at Yuma Library

The American Library Association is celebrating Americans’ right to read by recognizing banned book week.

The Yuma County Main Library is featuring a “jail cell” where volunteers can read books that are banned across the nation.

Father Lee Sissel is one of many people who will be reading in this cage today.

He volunteered to read the bible, as he says, ” I will be reading the book that is most banned in the world today- in 51 countries in the world- the bible is absolutely banned to possess it and to read it”

The bible is just one book among many others that has been removed from libraries across the United States.

People can sign up to read a banned book in the cage at the Yuma Main Library.
