BRAWLEY, Calif. – A 50-year-old Brawley woman was hit by a car as she attempted to cross Highway 86, according to police.
Brawley Police said the woman was hit by a car traveling south on Hwy 86 Wednesday at around 10:30 p.m. near Walmart.
The pedestrian was allegedly outside the designated crosswalk when the incident happened. Police said the woman driving did the right thing by pulling over immediately after the accident and calling 911 for help. The victim was flown to Palms Springs for medical care. Authorities said no criminal charges are being considered against the driver of the car.
“At this time we’re not looking at any criminal charges. There was no signs of impairment during that portion of the investigation. As to the physical evidence that we’re gathering in evaluating, we should be able to come to some kind of conclusion as soon as possible,” Brawley Police Commander Brett Houser said.
At this time the condition of the injured woman is not known.
