Bulldog up!

Bulldog up!

CALEXICO, Calif. – The Calexico Bulldogs volleyball team may still be feeling the sting of falling short on the Imperial Valley League title, but so far in the CIF San Diego Section Division 4 playoffs; they are using it to their advantage.

The top seeded Bulldogs made quick work of Monte Vista and San Diego Jewish Academy in the first two rounds; and that didn’t change much in their semi-final clash against 4th seeded Guajome Park Academy. Even though the Frogs gave the Bulldogs a competitive second set, the end result would see a three match sweep in favor of Calexico.

Bulldogs captain Pearl Escobar and Sophia Martinez once again were a one-two punch force to be reckoned with; as Escobar took down 23 kills in the match while Martinez delivered on 30 assists on the night.

The Dogs take the match; 25-14, 25-20 and 25-12. They will play for their second straight championship against either El Capitan or Hoover in the Division 4 title game this Friday night.
