Combat wounded parking at Best Western Innsuites

YUMA, Ariz.- The Best Western Innsuites at the Yuma Palms Mall has four new parking spots designated specifically for veterans.

The spots are spread throughout the parking lot, marked with ‘Combat Wounded’ signs provided by the Wounded Warrior Project. The project caters to a variety of programs, services, and events for wounded veterans across the country.

Christi Gibel, general manager at the Best Western Innsuites, says, “Being the fact that we are a huge military community and I’m married to a vet… I thought this was something we should really embrace in recognizing the brave men and women of our community.”
Gibel says the idea brought to her by one of the maintenance workers at the hotel, Jared Henry. Henry is not a veteran himself but is passionate about the service provided by our military service men and women and believes this accommodation is the right thing to do.
Henry even painted the designated spots purple during his spare time.
Gibel says, “We want to really recognize how many people have recognized and been purple heart recipients. They deserve some credit and I think they deserve to be a little special…we want to honor them.”
