SPARKS, Nev. (AP) – The Nevada Highway Patrol says a motorcyclist killed in a crash on Interstate 80 in Sparks was illegally passing cars on the left shoulder when he clipped the back of one and was ejected from the motorcycle.
The victim was identified Wednesday as 18-year-old Jonathan Navarro of Reno. After he fell from the red Honda street bike he was struck by a pickup pulling a fifth-wheel trailer about 11:30 p.m. Saturday just east of the exit for the Pyramid Highway.
Trooper Duncan Dauber says the driver of a black Subaru that Navarro ran into fled the scene but later turned himself in.
He says 19-year-old Jose Arellano of Truckee, California has been arrested for suspicion of failure to stop at the scene of a crash and failure to render aid.
