YUMA, Ariz. – The Kofa softball team is coming off a tough road upset loss to Tucson Sunnyside and a potential fall from it’s #2 ranking in division two softball.
They returned home, where they had the opportunity to put that behind them in an afternoon doubleheader against Lake Havasu. Game #1 featured a fantastic pitching effort by Bri Stephens, who only gave up the contest’s initial run.
Kofa would take over from there, starting in the bottom half of the 4th. Senior Sally Gastelo put down a much needed stand-up triple, to put the Lady Kings in instant scoring position. Jannay Jones wouldn’t waste any time after that, as she rocketed an RBI single to tie the game on the first pitch she saw. Kofa would go on to get the 5-1 win.
Game #2 would see Jannay Jones take the hill and lead Kofa to a home sweep at the Lady Knight’s expense, getting the 9-4 win.
