EL CENTRO, Calif.,- El Centro Regional Medical Center has put in place some visitor restrictions in efforts to prevent the spread of flu to its patients.
ECRMC announced that effective immediately visitations are restricted to one family member per patient and no one under the age of 16. Visitors with a cold, cough or any flu symptoms are not allowed to visit patients.
Rosana Lugo with El Centro Regional Medical Center says restrictions have also been put in place for employees. All ECRMC employees must have a flu shot and wear a protective mask if they have any flu like symptoms.
“This is done every year usually around this season when people are more prone to get sick with the influenza so this is to prevent the spread within our patients and in our community,” said Lugo.
The restrictions apply to all patients in the hospital as well as in the ECRMC Outpatient Clinics. Medical Center officials say they advice people with flu-like symptoms to not accompany their loved ones to appointments or the emergency room.
Protective medical masks are available at the hospital and at every clinics entrance desk. Lugo says these restrictions will be removed once the flu season ends.
