El Centro Bishop arrested after alleged inappropriate communications with minor

BRAWLEY, Calif. – The Brawley Police Department arrested 47-year-old Mark Anderson, who is a bishop of an El Centro Church, on one felony count after he allegedly had inappropriate sexual communications with a 14-year-old girl.

Police say the girl attended the church where Anderson is a bishop.

BPD received the call June 5. Police said detectives from BPD, along with investigators from Homeland Security Investigations, started an investigation into the allegations. The investigation revealed information which support the allegations and search warrants were obtained through the Imperial County Superior Court.

Officers said on the evening of June 6, investigators served search warrants at several locations and numerous items were seized as evidence. Anderson was detained and questioned at the Brawley Police Department. He was later booked into the Imperial County Jail on a single felony count of 288.3 PC- Communicating with a Minor for the Purpose of Committing a Lewd Act.
