VENTURA, Calif. – After the Ventura County district attorney Gregory D. Totten announced that there would be no charges filed against Jose Sanchez-Ramirez ,the Yuma truck driver involved in the metrolink train derailment in Oxnard, CA. Jose’s son Daniel Sanchez spoke at a press conference, reading a letter his father helped write, expressing the families concern for the injured passengers.
Rom Bomieh, the attorney for Jose Sanchez-Ramirez, said that the Oxnard Police Department arrested his client too quickly as the federal agency had yet to finish their investigation.
We spoke to Robert Bergsten, the attorney for the Growers Comapny Inc. which is the employer of Sanchez-Ramirez. Bergsten says that the company is concerned for the passengers as well as Sanches-Ramirez’s well being. Also he says that the company is already being sued by people due to the incident.
The derailment in Oxnard sent 30 people to hospitals, four with critical injuries.
