Fire threatening homes near Wellton, Ariz.

UPDATE: 10:28 p.m.

The Wellton Fire Department said the fire near Wellton, Ariz. is now 30 percent contained. So far the fire has burned brush along two miles of the river. The fire continues to head east. There is one house that is in danger but there is a fire truck ready to battle the blaze if it gets to close to the home.


NEAR WELLTON, Ariz. –  A fire that sparked near Wellton, Ariz. Tuesday is threatening several homes. The Wellton Fire Department is assisting Tacna fire with the blaze. The brush fire is along the river near Avenue 36E.

Firefighters said the blaze has jumped south and is getting closer to several homes in the area. Fire engines with both departments are set up in front of the houses to protect them.

The fire has spread about two miles.

There haven’t been any structures damaged at this time.

The Bureau of Land Management is also at the scene of the fire.

So far we do not know how many acres the fire has burned, or if the fire is partially contained.
