YUMA, Ariz.- October is national domestic violence awareness month. Home Depot nationwide is taking steps to helping shine a light on the issue. The home improvement store sells purple light bulbs all year round, but make a special effort to push the bulbs in the month of October. Anyone can show their support of the awareness of domestic violence by simply turning the purple light on your front porch. Sean Toomy, a manager at Home Depot in Yuma say’s they have received a positive feedback from customers and hope to sell more bulbs this month.
The movement can be contributed to The Covington Domestic Violence Task Force (CDVTF). The group hopes to see purple lights all around the world in the month of October. CDVTF’s wants the purple light to be a symbol of promoting healthy relationships without violence and for victims to get out of life threatening issues.
