IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. – Imperial County was hit with strong winds and showers last Friday and over the weekend. However there wasn’t that much damage reported county-wide. Officials say although the governor’s office declared a number of counties in California in state of emergency including Imperial County due to the storm that came through the county barely had any damage. There were some Imperial Irrigation District power lines down and some schools had some minimal damage but not enough to declare the county in state of emergency.
“You never know these storms come, you have these cloud bursts and you can have one area to miles away. I’ve seen it to where you have disaster of flood, you can have damage to cars, you can have damage to buildings, and then a mile away nothing, so it’s just very hard to predict.” said County Supervisor John Renison.
Renison adds that we are not in the clear as you may already know the month of August is known for having stormy weather.
