Inmate at state prison in Florence dies; Cellmate questioned

FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) – Authorities say an inmate at the state prison in Florence is dead and his cellmate is being questioned.

Arizona Department of Corrections officials say 29-year-old Anthony Allen was found unresponsive in his two-man cell Friday at the Eyman unit.

They say the death is being investigated as a suspected homicide.

Allen’s cellmate is being questioned by the department’s Criminal Investigations Unit.

The cellmate’s name hasn’t been released.

DOC officials say Allen was sentenced out of Yavapai County for aggravated DUI, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
