YUMA, Ariz. – The Kofa boys soccer team has almost played out the perfect season, only having one loss (to San Luis) and two draws all season long. Despite this, the Kings were still uncertain if they would still qualify for the AIA Division II playoffs.
The Kings would make a big case for themselves in their home finale against Cibola on Wednesday night. After almost playing a scoreless half, the crimson and white would break onto the scoreboard with a Jose Romero running header that would roll into the back to Cibola’s net with less than 10 minutes remaining before intermission.
Just minutes later, Christian Villegas would blast another goal through on right top shelf of the net; which would put Kofa up 2 to nil at the half. Villegas would score two more to secure himself a hat trick and give the Kings a much needed 4 to nil win. Even though Kofa’s record matches section winner San Luis, they will find out soon if their lastest victory would give them playoff life.
