Local dominance continues!

YUMA, Ariz. – Area wrestling power Cibola is currently on pace to defend it’s division 2 state title, posing an unbeaten 20-0 season record in dual competition. In a playoff preview, the Raiders would host crosstown rival Gila Ridge; who have also proven their mettle as a program. Even though the rivals have been in closer clashes in recent seasons, Cibola has yet to lose to Gila Ridge in the dual wrestling format.

When the two programs clashed in Raider Gym on Thursday night, that didn’t change. The Raiders took the overall point total by a 55 to 15 margin. One of the few bright spots for the Hawks comes from the 132 pound class, where Kyle Ford was able to improve his individual match record to a stellar 37 and 1. He defeated Cibola’s Frank Perez, who dropped to 22 and 9.

Both teams will take part in sectional competition at Aqua Fria on Saturday, February 7th.
