Local marine in custody after a tragic New Year’s day shooting

A New Year’s Eve celebration ended in tragedy when a college student was shot behind the wheel.
Marine Corps Air Station Yuma Corporal Eric Jamal Johnson is in custody in connection with the apparent road rage shooting death of a junior at University of Northern Texas Sara Mutschlechner and he’s back in court Thursday.
A friend of Johnson’s said she was shocked at the news. Arian Helm said, “He couldn’t have done this, that was my first reaction. I’m shocked; it left me speechless, you know. He’s a very cool kid, we have never had any problems. He’s never been in trouble, from what I know.”
Denton police tell News 11 they’ve identified all five men found to be in the car from which the lethal shots were fired and are working on questioning them.
Denton Police public information officer Shane Kizer said, “We are extremely confident that he is the lone gunman in this offense.”
Kizer said they are still looking at the occupants in the vehicle as witnesses. They are not done with the investigation although they have made an arrest.
