SOMERTON, Ariz. – On Saturday, a local teen who is fighting leukemia celebrated his 15th birthday with his family, friends and some unexpected guests. The party was a a young man’s version of the “quinceañera” party, typically for young girls’ 15 birthday, but this time it was decorated like a soccer fan’s dream. The Los Padrinos, Gotta dream, Housing America and Bobbys Territorial Harley Davidson helped to create a very special surprise for Somerton resident Alexis. Los Padrinos raised more than $5,300 to make his party a reality. There was a red carpet, and his very own throne to sit at.
Gotta Dream, along with a local Harley Davidson motorcycle group rode in and presented Alexis with birthday gifts. Alexis is a freshmen at Kofa, so one of his gifts from Gotta Dream was a brand new MACBook for his schoolwork. Alexis is a big soccer fan so they also gave him a signed soccer ball. Frontera United presented Alexis with a Frontera jersey, a replica of the stadium in Barcelona and new cleats.
Alexis said he hopes to play soccer with Kofa next year as well as professionally and be someone that people can admire one day.
