Man accused of double homicide shot by police

A Gilbert man suspected of shooting his roommate and a 17-year-old boy in his home, is in critical condition after being shot by police.

Authorities say 35-year-old Matthew Crain allegedly shot the two victims around 2:45 a.m. Sunday during a dispute at a house near Ray and Lindsay roads.

Officials say the responding officers found the two victims, who were dead at the scene, and that Crain had fled.

Police located Crain near a canal and a shooting with officers ensued.

They say Crain was taken to a hospital. No officers were injured.
