Man arrested after House election hearing ordered released

PHOENIX (AP) – A judge has released a man arrested at the state Capitol following a hearing on problems with the presidential primary election without bail.

Jonathan Scott McRae was arrested Monday in the gallery of the House of Representatives. The Department of Public Safety says the 23-year-old Paulden resident was yelling, refused orders to leave and held onto a chair to make it harder for troopers to remove him.

McRae was booked on misdemeanor trespassing and resisting arrest charges. He also faces a low-level felony for aggravated assault on a police officer because an open safety pin on his shorts slightly injured an officer.

A Maricopa County court commissioner ordered his release late Monday and told him to contact a public defender for representation. A phone listing for McRae couldn’t be found.
