EL CENTRO, Calif. – An El Centro man was hospitalized last night after he was shot in the leg. Police responded to the call, but not much is known as to why the shooting happened or who shot this person.
Commander Aaron Reel of El Centro Police Department had this to say about the incident,
“After 10 o’clock last night the officers responded to the area of second and orange in reference to a possible victim with a gunshot wound, they did contact a person at that location who appeared to have a single gunshot wound to one of his legs.”
“It does not appear to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He appears to be a victim of a shooting at this point. Officers conducted an initial investigation on scene. There was an indication that shell casings were found in an alley nearby. Based upon that the initial investigation we have no additional information that we would be willing to release at this point.
A witness who did not want to speak on camera says they airlifted the wounded man from Starkfield Park. Officials say he was flown to desert regional medical center and released sometime Friday morning.
