Mayor Doug Nicholls went on a Mexico City Trade Mission

City of Yuma’s Mayor Doug Nicholls just returned from the Mayor’s Mexico City Trade Mission, which took place October 4th through 7th.

It was a goodwill tour focused on economic development and building better relationships.

Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton’s office invited Mayor Doug Nicholls along with the mayor of Nogales, Mesa, Tucson, and Surprise.

Mayor Nicholls said, “It’s a joint venture, the mayor of phoenix termed the trip, the real Arizona showing Mexico the real Arizona.”

The group traveled to the Mexican capital on a mission to expand trade opportunities with prominent business and political leaders.

Nicholls said, “Yuma and Nogales were the only border towns present at every level at every meeting was intense they were very interested in how we could work closer the Mexican economy is going to rocket.”

A highlight of the trip was when the mayors participated in an Arizona-Mexico town hall with students from Mexico city’s prestigious university.

Nicholls said, “You could see that a lot of their impressions of the United States came from the headlines. The six mayors presented what the mayor called the real Arizona.”
