Motion to remand filed in local murder of Honduran national

YUMA, Ariz. – One of the two suspects accused in the local murder of a Honduran national appears in front of a judge at the Yuma Superior Court house.

Francisco Hernandez, 24, remains in custody for the murder of 27-year-old Emmanuel Naverete. His body was  found in the middle of an agriculture field in January near Avenue 9 1/4 E and Highway 95.

Hernandez had two attorneys present in court this morning. They have filed a motion to remand his case. If the judge grants the remand, the case will be heard at the superior court. If the remand is denied, it will remain under federal jurisdiction.

The state is scheduled to file a response to the motion by May 2nd.
