EL CENTRO, Calif.- The city of El Centro will soon have a new pool.
Plans are now underway to approve the design and ground-breaking day for the pool, according to city officials.
The idea was conceived back in 2010 when the old city pool closed because of safety issues.
The new pool will be located along Adams Avenue and Sixth Street.
People will enjoy a family pool area and a multiple-lane competition pool.
Opening day is expected to be Spring of 2018.
“It will have an eight lane lap pool, large play area for children with water pretty much waist deep, with some practice lanes in it. So, it’s really several pools in one,” El Centro City Manager Ruben A. Duran said.
The city pool project has a price tag of $11 million which will be covered with funds from property taxes already set aside for it.
