YUMA, Ariz. – The price of Yuma County homes are on a steady incline and sellers across the region hope to reap the benefits.
As it stands, the president of Yuma Association of Realtors says there are 625 homes on the market with more than 300 close to sold.
“We have pockets of very hot inventory and some pockets of some very slow inventory. Overall it’s a very good market both for buyers and sellers,” said Shelley Ostruwski.
A growing demand in south county has buyers looking for affordable homes in San Luis and Somerton but not many are up for sale.
“It’s going to be probably less than 30 honestly. In that price range the higher the price the more inventory there is going to be. But that’s a hard market down there under $130,000,” said Ostruwski.
With close access to the border, Ostruwski says there’s more desire to live in San Luis and Somerton.
“San Luis is definitely in short supply,” said Ostruwski.
She says developers are working to build more houses in Somerton in the mean time. As for the real estate market as a whole.
“It’s going to stay relatively the same. We’re not going to see a big boom again we’re not going to see a large recession. It’s going to be steady,” said Ostruwski.
In Yuma County the average price of a home is around $145,000.
“We’re back to that it’s about a 4% growth in Yuma County right now,” said Ostruwski.
With the growing housing market, she says sales could slow a little as the desert heat picks back up but not to worry she says it will pick back up when temperatures cool down.
