SAN LUIS, Ariz.- Months after Chief Neujahr stepped down from his position as Chief of Police, the city of San Luis is still looking for a replacement and wanting more people to apply.
The police department has been known to have a high turnover with their chiefs and this time the city plans to make some changes in their hiring process. The city says in the past they had a more homegrown approach in their process. Now, the city is hiring a recruitment agency, Waters and Company, to assist in their search for a new chief. Geraldine Gutierrez, spokesperson for the city, says they have had over twenty-one applicants, for the position but the city is still looking.
Gutierrez says the current stand-in chief Lieutenant Victor Figueroa has not applied for the position.
