YUMA, Ariz. – The defending AIA division 2 state champion Gila Ridge cross country team gets a coaching change-up in a span of a week.
Lucas Wolthuis leaves the program and Clinton Senn is hired out of North Dakota. He brings 10 years of cross country running experience as an athlete and has individual athlete training; but this is his first stint as a head coach.
Senn claims similar coaching ideology as Wolthuis, but he also wants to add his own wrinkles to coaching each athlete individually. Senn believes the foundation is already in place for the program to have a chance at continued success at winning state titles:
“As far as being able to compete with other schools and to get back to being on top and possibly defending state champions, I believe we do have the student athletes that are talented and capable enough to do so.”
