State of Arizona falls to #10 in the nation in military spending

YUMA, Ariz.- According to the latest reports from the U.S. Department of Defense’s Office of Economic Adjustments Arizona saw a drop of 18% or $11.2 billion during fiscal year 2014. The decrease has placed the state at #10 in the country for military spending. According to the latest from the Pentagon several factors could have played a role in the decrease in spending; lost military contracts in Pima County and a 420 staffing shortage at Fort Huachuca in Cochise County.  According to economist from the University of Arizona this is the new trend and should be expected.
