YUMA, Ariz- The Healing Journey is having an open house on Friday at 10 a.m. to raise awareness for domestic violence month. They’re also launching their Purple Purse Campaign.
Estrella Fitch with the Healing Journey said, “Purple Purse Campaign is an all state foundation campaign. Over 100 agencies in the whole nation have been chosen to compete and it’s a fundraising event.”
Fitch says last year the Healing Journey did well during the campaign but she’s looking to do even better this year and asks the community for their help.
Fitch adds, “Woman want help, men want help, teens and children want help. We have grown so much in our agency that tomorrow we’re hosting an open house.”
The Healing Journey has increased in size over the course of four years and Fitch says she’s determined to help these victims in any way possible.
Fitch says, “We have exploded, our youth groups are packed with kids that are referred by local agencies or mothers that are seeking help because they’ve been in abusive relationships and see that their children are suffering. So we bring them in and what we do is work with them. It’s working with survivors of these crimes but it’s also teaching them how to live a life without abuse.”
