YUMA, Ariz. – The Yuma Catholic Shamrocks girls basketball team got the biggest test of the season, as they hosted the top ranked team in all of Division 4; the Phoenix Christian Cougars.
The Shamrocks were coming off a three-game winning streak, with the hopes that home court on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday would help tip the scale in their favor.
Unfortunately for Y.C., they had trouble with the Cougar’s trap defensive scheme from the start. The Rocks were only able to muster four total points in the first period, all scored by Josselyn Morris; who would finish with 21 points and 4 steals in the contest.
The Rocks would crawl back into this one, but would still fall short in the end by a 55 to 49 score. Emily Rowlison would put up a double-double for Y.C., putting down 14 points and 10 boards in the loss.
