IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. – The Imperial County Sheriff’s Office said two men were arrested accused of setting haystacks on fire. Deputies said Wednesday at approximately 1:45 a.m. ICSO responded to a report of a set of haystacks that had been set on fire in the area of Clark Road (P Street), one block south of Barioni Road.
Officers from the Imperial Police Department had made contact with two men who were in the general area of the fire, and later determined that the two men were possibly involved with setting fire to the haystacks. Due to the arson having occurred in the County area, the Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident.
After an investigation was conducted, it was determined that the two men were directly responsible for setting this arson fire of the haystacks. The men were identified as 19-year-old Angel Echavarria, from Seeley, and 18-year-old Jose Lomeli from Imperial.
Echavarria and Lomeli were both booked into the Imperial County Jail for the arson. The case will be forwarded to the Imperial County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution
