YUMA, Ariz. – United Way of Yuma County is once again preparing tax returns to qualifying individuals throughout Yuma, Somerton and San Luis. With all five sites now open, taxpayers earning $53,000 or less per year, can visit any of the sites and receive free tax preparation on both their federal and state return.
VITA’s (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) mission is to help the local community get all the refunds, credits and deductions they qualify for. Additionally, VITA provides families a way to avoid paying high tax preparation fees and prevents them from visiting sites that offer high interest refund anticipation loans. “Our volunteers are specially trained to help residents receive credits or deductions that often get overlooked. Through the EITC credit alone, people can save almost $6,000! Last year, over $2.5 million was returned to Yuma County residents” said Karina Jones, Resource and Marketing Director.
United Way of Yuma County encourages eligible individuals to visit any of the following sites. For more information, please contact UWYC at 928-783-0515.
