Two men on the run from Phoenix police, caught up with Yuma Police Department Thursday, leaving one man is in custody and the other in the hospital, in critical condition. Thursday morning, Yuma Police Department assisted Phoenix police with an aggravated assault cause. They were looking for two men involved with an attempted homicide of a Phoenix woman. She was shot multiple times at an apartment complex on north 25th avenue in Phoenix on Saturday, June 13th. Her vehicle, where she had been shot, was found nearby. The woman was transported to a nearby hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. YPD assisted Phoenix police and traced the suspects to a home in Yuma, where they served a search warrant.
YPD’s Joe Franklin said, “One of the suspects left in a vehicle where he traveled west bound on 16th street. When we initiated the traffic stop, he turned onto Magnolia Avenue and at that time, he caused a self-inflicted gun shot wound.” He was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center, where he is currently in extremely critical condition.
Franklin said, “We served the search warrant on the other subject and got him into custody with no incident.” This is an ongoing investigation and further information will become available at a later time.
