Yuma man arrested after firearms investigation

YUMA, Ariz. – Federal agents were led to a home off of 14 1/2  E for a federal search warrant after an extensive firearms investigation.

Carlos Vasquez, 39, is being held at the Yuma County Detention Center until he is seen by the U.S. Judge Friday morning.

“What he will be charged with will directly correlate with what’s recovered during the search warrant,” said Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Special Agent Meredith Davis.

ATF served the warrant with the help of the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office and the Yuma Police Department.

Davis says that ATF agents believe there are firearms in the home. The search has left neighbors shocked.

“I think it’s pretty crazy. I mean I don’t expect it. I thought they were just like some people with a lot of money who bought a big house and that’s it. I didn’t think anything like that,” said Anthony Micaletti.

Micaletti says his sister once babysat for a couple that lived in the home.

“I think my sister had babysat for their kids once before and other than that I haven’t talked to them,” said Micaletti.

After the conclusion of the search warrant the U.S. Attorneys Office will announce what charges will be filed.
