Yuma man arrested on attempted homicide charges

YUMA, Ariz. – The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) arrested a man they believe attacked two people.

YCSO said deputies responded to a report of a domestic assault in the 9600 block of South Apache Tears Avenue in the Foothills Friday at 3:19 a.m.

When deputies showed up they found two victims at a house with injuries. The suspect, 18-year-old Jorge Garcia-Aceves of Yuma, fled from the residence into a nearby agriculture field where he was found shortly after and taken into custody.

One of the victims was taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center by Rural Metro Ambulance. The second victim self-transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center.

Garcia-Aceves was arrested and booked into the Yuma County Detention Center on two counts of attempted homicide and is being held on a $500,000 bond.
